Staff Member and Legionaire "Stormin" Norman Sullivan passes away

Dedicated Staff Member passes after many years of service to country and youth

After many years of service to God and Country "Stormin Norman" Sullivan, as he was coined by statesmen, has passed away. Norman served as Passaic County Boys State Chairman for many years, fulfilling his duty by performing county orientations. After many years as a Legionaire, Norman began attending ALJBS as a staff member at Rider University, a role he filled for 19 sessions. During his time at ALJBS each year he served as an Assistant City Counselor as well as Coordinator for the ALJBS Alumni Association, an association set up in 1986 to fund scholarships to send students to Boys State each year.

Norm passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2006. He was a member of Post 108, Singac, NJ, Passaic County. Norm served as Past Department Vice Commander (2002-2003), Past Department Executive Committeeman from Passaic County (2001-2004), Vice Chairman on the Department Children & Youth Committee for many years. He also held many offices on Post and County level, as well as serving as a trustee of the American Legion Jersey Boys State Coporation; Norm was truly a dedicated legionnaire and good friend.

During his time on staff, Norman served as a mentor for younger staff as well as the delegates, touching them with his stories of his service to his country in the Army 826th Aviation Engineers during the Korean War era. Norman also provided entertainment each session during State Party Conventions conveying his wit and sense of humor. His contributions to the program will be greatly missed by all staff and delegates.
