ALJBS continues jam-packed session at Rider U.

US and State Legislatures address the delegates on Monday

US Senator Robert Menendez of Essex County addresses the 800 delegates of the 61st session of ALJBS.


Monday began with an opportunity for the statesmen to hear from New Jersey U.S. Senator Menendez (D,NJ). The statesmen heard the senator discuss his stance on several issues, including Healthcare and Homeland Security, and helping furthering an understanding of how these issues affect the state of New Jersey. Following Senator Menendez's address, he entertained several thoughtful questions from this years delegates.

Later Monday night, delegates heard brief speeches from four of NJ's elected state representatives; Senator Leonard Lance (State Minority Leader and former ALJBS delegate, R-23rd District), Senator John Adler (D-6th District), Assemblyman Herb Conaway, M.D. (former ALJBS Governor, D-7th District), Assemblyman Rick Merkt (Parliamentarian, R-25th District). After their brief speeches, a Question & Answer period followed in which most questions for the representatives focused on spending and ethics.

By the end of the day Monday, City Offices for Mayor / Council have been filled, as well as filling the slate of positions for County positions such as Freeholder and County Sheriff. You can track your son's progress via our Election Results page by clicking here.
