Assistant Director Gregory Telischak passes at age 63
The American Legion Jersey Boys State staff is mourning the loss of long time staff member and Assistant Director, Gregory Telischak. Greg served on the staff of ALJBS for 41 years and proceeded through the ranks, serving as city counselor, Dean of Athletics, Office Manager and was Assistant Director for the past 7 years. In addition to his time as a member of the volunteer staff, Greg was also a founding member of the New Jersey Boys State Foundation and served as a Trustee from its founding in 1999 until his passing.
Although never a participant in the ALJBS program, Greg was introduced to the program in his early twenties by his brother-in-law and current First Assistant Director, Gordon Vreeland. Greg appreciated the values learned as a staff member and was eager to help the program grow into what it has become today.
An Accountant by trade, Greg made his home in Garfield (Bergen County). He is survived by his wife Eileen, daughter Justine and her husband John; daughter Kimberly and her husband Anthony; and four grandchildren: Michelle, Matthew, Anthony James and Daniel James.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gregory's name can be made to the New Jersey Boys State Foundation for a Legacy Scholarship in his honor.
Checks can be sent care of: Dominic Santillo, 25 Gamewell Lane, Willingboro, NJ 08046-3007
