It's been just over one month since the close of the 2012 session of American Legion Jersey Boys State. While most delegates are enjoying their final summer before high school graduation, two statesmen are representing their state at the annual Boys Nation conference being held at Marymount University this week in Arlington, Virginia.

ALJBS Federalists Nimit Jindal [Jackson City #6] of Dover (Morris County), Post #344 and Johan Zhang [Johnson City #16] of Belle Mead (Somerset County), Post #12 are at the 8 day Boys Nation program (July 20-27). There they are among the 98 delegates from around the US sent by their Boys State programs to learn the political process once again, this time on a national level. One unique difference is the number of field trips outside of the program that Nimit and Jordan will experience. To this point they have already been to Arlington National Cemetary, the Vietnam War Memorial and the National Mall. Later this week they will be headed to the Smithsonian, Capital Hill and the Supreme Court. In addition to the field trips around the popular sites in our nation's capital, they will take part in the Legislative body, the Boys Nation Senate, and put forth their ideas to their peers. Nimit is proposing a limit on increases in health care premiums, while Johan is proposing a Constitutional Amendment to allow naturalized citizens with 35 consecutive years of residence after gaining citizenship to be eligible for the Office of President of the United States.

When reached via Social Media during a break, Johan Zhang let the ALJBS staff know that Boys Nation has been an incredible experience and "Everyone I've met is outstanding, and I'm looking forward to working together with them for the rest of the week."
