Planning for 2015 and beyond

Off-season preparations for our 70th session begin

Whether you've attended the American Legion Jersey Boys State program in 2014 or 2004, you know the powerful impact that our week-long college-level seminar has on the youth of New Jersey. For sixty-nine consecutive years, the ALJBS program has educated rising high school seniors about civics, government, politics and leadership in its unique hands-on manner. As we embark on the preparations for our seventieth session, we hope that the class of 2014 and all others are continuing to use the skills and knowledge learned at ALJBS and apply it to their own communities, whether in New Jersey or beyond. As members of the all-volunteer staff, hearing your stories from 2014, 2011 or 1958, surely propel us to further develop and enhance this program and maintain the interest of the delegates year after year. We encourage you to contact us with ideas or stories of how the program impacted you or inspired you to become more active in your communities. Whether a simple email or story posted on Social Media, we look forward to continuing the conversation year round as we prepare for our 70th session June 21-26, 2015 at Rider University - "A Week That Shapes the Future."

For those from the Class of 2014, online Junior Assistant Counselor applications should be placed prior to September 15 to allow our Dean of Staff and City Counselors to determine the top candidates for the 2015 session. As we receive over 175 applications per year, the decision is not easy. Please answer the questions to the best of your ability - you may complete the online application by clicking here.

Finally, the New Jersey Boys State Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, will be holding their second annual Jersey Boys State 5K Run + Walk on Sunday, September 7, 2014 beginning at 9 am at Hamilton NJ's Veterans Park. Details can be found on the event website by clicking the image below. We hope you will all take this opportunity to enjoy a day with the volunteer staff, notable alumni, and your peers. Note the prize for Top ALJBS Alumni!
