ALJBS Mourns Loss Of Staff Member And Trustee Varsalona



Longtime ALJBS staff member and Trustee PDVC Peter "Pete" Varsalona, 77, passed away Friday.

Varsalona was a member of the American Legion for 40 years, starting at Post 86 in Newtown, before transferring to Post 157 in Branchville. He served as Post Commander, County Commander, and Department of New Jersey Vice-Commander. He was also very active with the Boys State program for more than thirty years, as a member of the Board of Trustees, Board Vice President, Chairman of the Executive Committee, and as a volunteer Senior Staff Member for over fifteen years.

"Pete was a tremendous asset to the Program and his presence will be sorely missed," said ALJBS Executive Director David Bagatelle. "Pete was extremely supportive and instrumental in our efforts to make New Jersey the preeminent Boys State Program in the country."

Varsalona's funeral will be on Saturday, January 21. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main Street, Branchville, NJ, with an American Legion Service at 2:00pm. Details and a full obituary can be found online here.
